Instructor Introduction

I first started tutoring when I was in high school. As a member of the National Honor Society, my school required that I tutor struggling students a certain number of hours every year. It was a wonderful and inspiring experience. I realized through that experience that with the right support, anyone can learn anything. Twenty years later, I realize I have been teaching in some capacity ever since.

The two academic subjects I have had the most interest in have always been art and science, although I like many different topics. I received my bachelor’s degree from Academy of Art University of San Francisco in Motion Pictures and Television and received the Presidential Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Following that degree, I realized that I wanted to study science again. I studied biology and chemistry at San Francisco State University and earned my Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Health Professions. I worked in healthcare for a few years, but realized that I missed teaching. After taking some additional biology courses at UC San Diego, I was accepted by the Master’s in Biology program at Arizona State University and am currently working on my degree.

At present, I work as a test prep and academic tutor. The subjects I cover are: ACT/SAT/PSAT, biology, chemistry, math, English, and history. I love my job and truly feel that teaching is my calling. I still feel the same joy helping students today that I felt when I first started working with students two decades ago.

In my free time I enjoy watching films and documentaries, researching skincare and haircare science, learning about new developments in genetics, spending time with my family, and hanging out with my Australian Shepherd.
